Hi, I'm Jade. Here's why I want to help you ...
English was my second language when I was a child.
When I was five years old, I stepped into a classroom in England, fresh from Hong Kong, not knowing a single word of English. I felt like an outsider—wearing Chinese pyjamas with a pudding basin haircut amidst a sea of long, blond-haired girls in dresses. On that first day, I remember needing the bathroom but being unable to ask, felt frustrated and embarrassed because no one could understand me.
Years later, in my 30s, I experienced those feelings again while learning Marathi in India as part of a Christian community development group. Arriving in a small town with no one to meet me, I was overcome by the same fear of inadequacy.
No one understood me and I understood no one.
The barrier of language was isolating and overwhelming.
I understand what it feels like to learn a language both as a child and as an adult—the embarrassment, the sense of incompetence, and the frustration when you can't express yourself fully. But I also know the triumph of overcoming those challenges. As a child, I went from knowing no English to outperforming many classmates in just three years, reaching near-native fluency.
In India, I saw firsthand how mastering English could unlock doors of opportunity. Teaching English to children there reinforced how important this skill is in opening pathways to success.
When my husband and I moved to Canada, I worked with immigrants and refugees, helping them thrive through effective communication. I discovered the differences between how children and adults learn languages and identified strategies to fast-track English improvement for adults.
One pivotal moment came when my husband, an engineer whose first language is not English, was told by his boss to improve his writing skills. I had noticed the recurring mistakes but knew he needed external motivation to take action. This experience sparked my desire to help. With his feedback, I designed a course that would help him and many others who faced similar challenges in their careers.
Since then, I’ve worked with leaders, business executives, and managers to develop customised speaking and writing solutions. In 2020, as the world adapted to new ways of working online, I began my entrepreneurial journey, coaching professionals, managers and executives - like you - to communicate with clarity and confidence in meetings, presentations, and written correspondence.
Too many professionals with English as a second language are held back by communication barriers. They spend hours Googling vocabulary and grammar, unsure if their English is correct or if their message truly communicates. In a world that demands effective communication, these struggles limit career potential.
I’ve been in your shoes, and I know the path forward. My mission is to help Asian professionals, managers and executives showcase their expertise, communicate confidently, and unlock their full potential in their careers.
I'm Jade, and I’m here to help you break through language barriers and "shine like stars" in the global workplace. Together, we’ll ensure your voice is heard clearly, your message is professional and concise, and your expertise is not hidden behind your level of English.
